Vienna

Vienna is a friendly, suburban neighborhood of Northern Virginia in Fairfax County, Virginia. There is an old town center with locally run businesses, as well as new development giving it both the hometown and city vibe as one of the best places to live!

Vienna is just 15 miles outside of Washington, DC with charming neighborhoods full of history and the quaint hometown friendliness with cherished traditions and a full community activity calendar.

Vienna grew in the mid 1700's and was known as Ayr Hill after a county in Scotland becoming Vienna in the mid 1800's. in the 1870's the Presbyterian church I belong to was built followed by a Methodist, Episcopal and Baptist church giving us what we now call "Church Street" known for local businesses and a beautiful Christmas stroll event in December each year.

The 1903 Vienna Volunteer Fire Department is the oldest in Fairfax County and in the 1950's the development of the Tysons Mall began and growth continues to explode!

Some of my favorite places in Vienna are: 

1. The Vienna Inn where you still today just tell the cashier what you ordered and pay your tab
2. Vienna Presbyterian Church and Sunday breakfast of eggs and a blueberry waffle at The Virginian
3. Church Street for the Coffee shop and the very English Pasty Shop
4. The W&OD trail where I've biked and run more miles than I can count
5. The W&OD wouldn't be complete without the Caboose Brew Pub.
6. Jammin' Java Coffeehouse and Music Club
7. Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

Most of the residential real estate is owner occupied. Many of the residences in the  neighborhood are established. A number of residences were also built between 2000 and the present. 

You'll find small town charm while maintaining all the amenities of big city life. Check out farms, historic sites, local parks,  breweries, and performing arts venues.
